Christmas markets in Switzerland

Tooday's lesson is about Christmas markets. I really enjoy the location of those markets. You can find there really interesting presents of gifts for Christmas.  Apart from location and the possibility to get some presents I also enjoy the atmosphere of those places.

In many towns, there are Christmas markets.

Det  git s so vil schöni Schtänd mit Sache.
There are so many stalls with things.

Mit dene cha-mer mängem e Fröid mache.
With these, one can “make” a joy for many.

D Handwärker verchaufed det iri schöni War.
The craftsmen sell their beautiful goods there.

Mer cha Glüehwii trinke a de Bar.
One can drink mulled wine at the bar.

Und di vile Liechtli! 
And all these lights! 

Überalll brännet-s! 
They’re “burning” everywhere!

Das fröit sogar de Gritibänz.
This makes the “Gritibänz”  very happy.

Für d Chind isch natürlich de Wiehnachtszauber scho fascht perfäkt, 
For the children, the Christmas magic is nearly perfect, 

wenn si em Samichlaus begägnet ...
when they meet Santa Claus …

und er ine e Läbchueche schänkt.
he gives them a gingerbread.

Uuf de Iisbahn chönd si schlittschüehle 
They can ice skate on the ice rink.

… und uf em Karussel im Chreis ume trüle.
…  and turn around in circles on the merry-go-round. 

Es isch würklich e Träffpunkt für Gross und Chli, ich wett ich chönnti au meh det sii.
It really is a meeting point for young and old, I would like to be able to be there more often.
